It’s good to be back. After a brilliant summer I can only look forward to the fall and winter. Last week I went to Leipzig (the Games Convention 2007) to do some interviews for my PhD, to look at some groovy games and to write a bunch of articles, one of which is a piece for Dagblad de Pers (below).

Leipzig was a blast. I wish I could have spend just a little bit more time over there but there’s always another time. Now it’s back to work, let the temperature drop, let it rain, summertime is over.

For your reading pleasure two newspaper pieces. One called “Doom komt altijd terug” (page 17, .pdf), a analysis of the success of Steam and the decision of Id Software to put all of their games up for download (kinda cool). The story on Leipzig is somewhat longer and looks at some new titles and being at a game trade show in general. It’s titled “De keiharde strijd om de kerstgames” (page 16, .pdf). I had a great time writing the piece on Leipzig.
